Reducing inflammation and boosting the immune system with a smoothie – turmeric, ginger, carrot

In winter, we need to work and do much more to strengthen and maintain our immune system. The focus should definitely be on reducing inflammation and strengthening the immune system. You can also make a great smoothie with carrots, ginger and turmeric, which acts as an antioxidant bomb and has excellent anti-inflammatory effects.

Ingredients:

– 2-3 carrots
– 1 celery
– 1 large apple
– 2-3 slices of pineapple
– half a lemon
– a finger of ginger
– a pinch of ground pepper and turmeric

Preparation:

Peel the carrots and celery and place in a blender. Add the chopped apple, pineapple slices, freshly squeezed juice of half a lemon, grated ginger and ground black pepper and turmeric. Blend and enjoy with health.

Carrots are a great source of carotenoids, which have antioxidant properties. It is also very rich in potassium and vitamin A.

Apples are also very rich in antioxidants. These compounds help to strengthen the immune system and its pectin content ensures digestive health. Apples can also be effective in cases of constipation and diarrhoea.

Celery contains many essential vitamins and minerals. Nutrients that have a prominent role in reducing inflammation, weight loss and lowering cholesterol. It also supports liver health and research shows it is one of the most effective vegetables against cancer.

Ginger has a metabolism-boosting effect, it also has a prominent anti-inflammatory role and even has a positive effect on digestion.

Turmeric is one of nature’s most powerful anti-inflammatory agents, helping to protect the body from premature ageing and also from diseases caused by chronic inflammation.

Lemon helps to cleanse the liver and is very effective in boosting metabolism. It also helps keep the skin clean. It has a very high content of vitamin C, an antioxidant that is highly involved in strengthening the immune system.

Pepper contains a compound called piperine, which promotes better absorption and utilisation of turmeric.
