Chronic inflammation is not only dangerous, but the chances of developing it increase with age. Of course, it can also occur at a younger age, as inflammation can be triggered by many things in the body, such as prolonged stress, inactive lifestyles and foods that cause inflammation.
To reduce the inflammation in your body, it is a very important step to make lifestyle changes such as eating anti-inflammatory foods, exercising, learning stress reduction techniques, getting enough sleep, not smoking and drinking alcohol in moderation.
Anti-inflammatory foods are also a rich source of antioxidants, which is important because antioxidants alone can do a lot to minimise inflammation by reducing oxidative stress, which also triggers inflammation in the body. Fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, seeds, fish, healthy oils and a wide variety of herbs are all part of an anti-inflammatory diet.
Because there are so many different foods that can help reduce inflammation, we can also eat a very varied diet. Among berries, blueberries have a very good anti-inflammatory effect, and among green leafy vegetables, spinach or kale. We can also make our own anti-inflammatory drinks. For one, you don’t need anything but water, celery and lemon juice. Blend a large celery – celery leaves can be added – with water and fresh lemon.
The other drink is made with turmeric, lemon juice, cinnamon and honey and, of course, water. Add any amount of each ingredient to the water and sip throughout the day. These ingredients have antioxidant, alkalizing and great anti-inflammatory properties.
