Many people think that the only way to relieve a headache is with medication, but this is the worst thing you can do, because the more times you reach into the medicine cabinet, the less effective the medication will be.

Many people struggle with headaches these days and many suffer from migraine headaches, of which headaches are not the only symptom. Migraine sufferers are well aware of the symptoms of the condition, such as nausea, vomiting, sensitivity to sound and light.

Some herbs can be very effective in relieving pain. Ginger has been shown to be an excellent painkiller, mainly due to its anti-inflammatory properties. How does it work? It helps to dilate the blood vessels, as narrowing of the blood vessels can also be a cause of frequent headaches.

Peppermint also has both anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects. How does it work? It helps to relax the muscles. Inhaling peppermint can also help to relieve headaches, but mixing it with carrier oil can also make a great neck massage that will soon relieve headaches.

Exercise of all kinds is very effective in relieving pain, but yoga is particularly useful if you suffer from headaches. Yoga can help us to release tension and thus reduce headaches.

A study has reported that acupuncture can also help prevent migraine attacks, as well as being very effective in relieving headaches.

Little or poor quality sleep also increases the intensity and frequency of headaches. A healthy adult should get 7-8 hours of sleep a day to both rest and to recover physically, mentally and spiritually.

If you suffer from headaches or migraine headaches, it can be very helpful to change your diet. Look at what triggers headaches and try to avoid these foods. Eat as many foods as possible that are rich in magnesium and riboflavin. Magnesium is found in high amounts in green leafy vegetables and whole grains, while vitamin B2 is found in higher amounts in eggs and low-fat products.
