Bromelain and antioxidant vitamins for COPD relief

Posted on November 10, 2022

COPD is nothing more than chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. There is no cure for this disease, but it can be managed with medication, a healthy lifestyle and supplements. Here are some nutrients and supplements that can be very helpful if you suffer from this disease!

Bromelain is an enzyme found in pineapple. This enzyme reduces inflammation, so it can help those who suffer from a condition called COPD. It is very effective in relieving COPD because of its strong anti-inflammatory properties.

Our body also produces coenzyme Q10. This is a powerful antioxidant that has a prominent role in the fight against cardiovascular disease and cancer. Coenzyme-Q10 can also be a natural medicine, as it increases cellular activity and reduces inflammation in the body. Coenzyme Q10 has also been shown to make COPD more likely in people who lack this antioxidant nutrient.

Regular exercise is a very important part of COPD management. The body also produces L-carnitine, which it uses to burn fat, among other things. For COPD patients, L-carnitine helps to strengthen muscles and improve stamina.

The antioxidant effects of vitamin A, vitamin E and vitamin C make it very useful for people with COPD. Individuals with chronic lung disease are usually low in antioxidant vitamins. However, a lack of these antioxidants significantly impairs the lungs’ functional capabilities.

One study involved patients with COPD. The patients were given vegetables and fruits rich in these vitamins every day, which had the effect of significantly improving their lung function.

Osteoporosis can be particularly dangerous for patients with COPD, as compression of the spine makes breathing even more difficult. However, vitamin D has a role to play in preventing osteoporosis and alleviating other symptoms of COPD. If you think you may have a vitamin D deficiency or want to supplement, check with your doctor first.
